About myself

I became a mom in 2020 and with the lack of available resources for moms during the Covid lockdown I struggled with learning to breastfeed and made a lot of painful mistakes. Having been a nurse for nearly a decade I knew there had to be resources available, but wasn’t sure where to find them. I went back to work and God opened doors for me to train at a Childbirth Center then almost immediately pulled me right into working in the Lactation Department. I had a loss and then, in 2022, another child. This time, I thought, would be simple! But… it truly wasn’t. I was still traumatized by my previous breastfeeding experience. I knew I really wanted to be able to breastfeed. I reached out for help from Lactation Consultants, support groups, and friends - people who truly cared. I learned it wasn’t just me! Other moms were struggling with breastfeeding after their first experience too. I had seen so many experienced, confident mothers in the hospital setting and figured it stayed that way at home. For me it certainly did not. Sometimes help is needed. Knowing you need help as a new (or new again) parent can have many feelings attached. It did for me. It also motivated me to ensure my ongoing education focuses on what parents are most likely to be struggling with that compounds difficulties with feeding your baby.

What I am now offering at Drink Deeply Lactation is what made my journey a success: client-focused care, research and evidence-based practices, knowledge, and experience. I will provide a compassionate outside perspective and realistic support of your goals, with a focus on mental health.

“For you will nurse and be satisfied at her comforting breasts; you will drink deeply and delight in her overflowing abundance.” Isaiah 66:11
